Police investigating fire at Cuilagh Mountain Park

Popular tourist spot Cuilagh Mountain Park Fermanagh is hitting headlines again as a blaze broke out over the week. The fire burnt through four portable toilets located at the private car park at Legnabrocky in Florencecourt. A spokesperson from Omagh and Fermanagh District Council said,

“Police are currently investigating the matter.”

This latest controversy at the site comes after the beauty spot was recently closed off to the public after concerns that the thousands of walkers passing through have had a devastating effect on local land, destroying the natural habitat as well as the impact of the fire which broke out in May. The site began to go viral at the start of the year with it trending across all social media platforms which had thousands descending to the site. However, an agreement has been settled with the 2,500 hecture site being managed by Omagh and Fermanagh District Council and a fee of £5 charged by the landowner.
